Made this stew and my family loved it. A definite recipe to be put in my "will cook again and recommend" book.

@Sharon and Carla- Hi I am Chef Heather from Food on the Table. I am so happy to hear that both of you enjoyed this stew so much. Since stew meat is so affordable and summer is quickly approaching you should also give our Sweet Grilled Steak Bites a try! It is another quick and easy recipe that would be perfect with some fresh grilled summer veggies! http://www.foodonthetable.com/recipes/3314-sweet-grilled-steak-bites

This was o.k., but I think I got a bad cut of meat as it was VERY chewy! Taste was pretty good over all.

Delish and very hearty. I have trouble filling up my family of 5, especially with 2 teenagers. I loved this recipe and felt like they got their veges and were filled up too! Reminded me of the beef stew I grew up eating from my mother's kitchen.

This was very good. I substituted the bouillon cubes for beef broth. This was definitely a fave in my house & hubby loved it!

@Mrs. Powell- Yes replacing the bouillon with a low sodium beef broth and using fresh veggies, is a great way to reduce sodium in this recipe if that is something you have to be cautious of.

@ Chef Heather-I actually wasn't looking to reduce sodium. Ha! Thats all I had in the house so it really came out great. I had ot for lunch today and it was really good!

I loved this. You get the flavor of a cooking-all-day stew without the work. I couldn't find browning sauce anywhere though. I ended up making my own. Really simple.

what do I use for browning sauce?

@Anonymous- Browning sauce is a blend of vegetable stock and seasonings and is caramel in color. It is traditionally added to gravies, sauces, soups and stews to add color and flavor. Browning sauce is typically located near the prepared and dry gravy mixes, at most grocery stores. If you have trouble finding it you can use a concentrated beef broth instead.

Shawna, there is no need to add anything to this. You can add a salad but everything is in the stew. Its an overall good meal

Shawna, Mrs. Powell is absolutely right. But a nice crusty bread would be a great accompaniment to this well balanced stew.

Very good and very easy. It did have too much meat for our family. I will only use 1 lb. next time. I also used Knorr Gravy Mix and 2 cups of water. It smells so good while it is cooking! Yummmm.
