I don't know how to rate this, but we did not like this recipe at all. We had to coat it with ketchup just to eat it..it was just so plain and boring tasting.

Pretty good. I expected it would be bland, but I thought it was good - and the kids liked it, too!

Per the kids it was okay. They would eat it again but would not request it.

Kristy, that sounds great. This has become one of my grand kids favorite things to eat. Getting 4 kids to agree on anything is amazing.

All 5 of us liked it. In my book that's a winner. With 3 kids the boring is what wins them over. They like things to be a bit predictable.

Could you substitute Beef Base for the Beef Broth? If so, how much?

@Aaron, yes you could. The amount depends on the brand (some seem a little stronger than others and also a little saltier than others). 1 teaspoon generally equals one beef bouillon cube or the 8 oz. jar would equal a can of beef broth.

Thank you ladies. I went and picked up some broth just in case. Also, substituted bell pepper for onion and added red pepper flake for a bit of spice. Turned out great :-)

Larissa, just wondering if you added the macaroni in dry so it would cook in the seasoned broth? It's kind of surprising that this would turn out bland, given the amounts of paprika, black pepper, garlic, onion and the salty beef broth. I can definitely see where it would have turned out differently with pre-cooked macaroni, though. Very sorry it didn't work out for you!

This recipe was easy to make. Very different from the goulash my grandma makes, but with the addition of quite a bit of extra seasonings, was good. Even better on day 2 for leftovers!!
